Dear all,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIHHvab5iOc

歌風可以從美國民謠、easy listening、rock and roll、heavy metal、....

Here's an update of the 8/8 program. There will be 3 time slots available to us on 8/8:
13:45-15:00 casual meeting in the conference room
18:00-20:30 formal dinner in the banquet room
20:30-? karaoke/dance party in the banquet room

We have no time limits on the casual and dance meetings. However, we are allocated only 8 min. each for 懷念校園民歌帶動唱 and 懷念西洋老歌 during formal dinner, since there will be many performers/speakers/board businesses taking turns. Therefore, I have to condense songs into non-stop medleys for that purpose.

Again, the 2 playlists are:
校園民歌 http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=AD3D0053036E6C69
西洋老歌 http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=2A0EC33D5A9395CB
I've also attached 2 files for the lyrics.

Dear Joe and guitar club old bones friends,

Thanks Joe so much to take the lead to come up with the programs for Guitar Club.  Many of us don't play guitar anymore and I'm just so glad some one like Joe can proudly represent us to give other people the illusion that we are all talented like him.  I think all the guitar club friends in LA should make an attempt to attend the banquet to meet, support and cheer for Joe and our club especially we are still so connected after that many years.

I know you are younger than us.  Don't you want to take this once a life time opportunity to have a little reunion with the old bones members? Next year or the following year is your turn and I'm sure you will be assigned some tasks.  Please come and steal some ideas from Joe!

Dr. 鄧嘉猷, I haven't seen you since I ran into you in a doctor's office by accidence at least 10 years ago.  I love to see you again not to mention the medical advice we all desperately need at this age. I know for sure I won't recognize you if we both are waiting in line in Ranch 99 market or Best Buy. I didn't know you were a member even though you were my high school classmate and we both love our friend, Jean Wang.

莊挺宏, we got to see you last year in LA after almost 20 years, thanks to your daughter who goes to UCLA.  You still have the greatest sense of humor and I wish I could play classical guitar duet with you again!  It is one of my to-do lists as soon as my son graduates from high school. 王維剛, any chance to come down while meeting your clients in LA?  Thanks to 陳惠娟, we need to catch up on the options trading.

I regretted missing 羅啟德 last year because I was in the Alaska cruise.  This year, I especially arranged our family trip right after our reunion on 8/9 (leaving for Rome Sunday night).  I really hope for those who have nothing "important" to do, please try to come to meet us at the San Gabriel Hilton.  陳惠娟, you know many other club members in LA who are not in the distribution list above.  Please contact them for this rare opportunity.

You can tell that I'm more excited to meet you guys than my own business class friends.  Our club leaves us the most wonderful memory in our college life and I believe this reunion can bring back many of those fond memories. Don't toss it away. Let's connect again!

Dear Friends,

Have a great reunion!  Seeing Joe’s list of popular oldies brought back many memories of the singing and dancing we did at the old Guitar Camps.  I look forward to watching the videos of your performances.

I couldn’t agree more with Jan Jan that gatherings of us old bones are more fun than school classmate reunions because we share the same interests in music.  I had a marvelous time partying with some of you last October in Taipei, although my somewhat out-of-tune singing spoiled Richard’s fine playing that night.  I’m planning another trip to Taipei this coming October and I hope that, if time permits, we can get together and have a good time again.

Regards,

Eric  2009, 07, 23  (羅啟德)

Hello Eric,

Good to hear from you.
It was certainly fun that night in Taipei last October, wasn't it! Though I didn't quite remember the lyrics when singing with 黃德江, I was quite amazed that he and Richard still play and sing very well.

Hope you have a good time hanging out with old bones again this October, I will be in Taipei in Mid-November.
Take care.

Best,

Ying-Ling 2009, 07, 23  (王瑩玲)

Dear Joe, Simon, and guitar club old bones,

I am so sorry that I could not attend this exciting and wonderful reunion in CA.  I owe my sincere apologies particularly to 沈 重 and 曾垂紀, former members of the "Strangers", as we have spent so much time playing guitar and singing together (I know that no excuses could redeem myself).  It is so nice to see 沈 重 is still playing guitar and singing after 30 years!

Those wonderful college days with the Guitar Club are still vivid in my memory.  In fact, we spent more time together playing and singing than with our classmates.  We, particularly 沈 重 (熱門吉他組), 莊挺宏 (古典吉他組), 李芳仁 (活動組長),  翁曉東 (公關組長), 齊豫 (海報組), 高崇榮, 羅啟德, 唐雲順, 張典顯, and 蔡博,文 revived the 普八 having daily singing activities, wrote our own song books for teaching, organized several major campus concerts and many outings and parties, and had our club expanded to 400 members becoming the largest club at NTU. After my term, 李芳仁, and then 唐雲順 and 李世偉 gracefully accepted the duty calls to continue the tradition and made the Club even more popular.  Through the Club activities, I had met with the rest of you and had wonderful time together.  Up to now, I have met with 李芳仁 occasionally as we both are in medical research field.

I have just returned to Taiwan this month to establish an Immunology Research Center. The duty and previously arranged committee meetings here have prevented me from going to this reunion in CA.  But I know those of lucky ones who are able to attend and sing the old songs will have a great time together.

Happy reunion!

Dear

I am so exhilarated to hear from you! Those were the days! And you have such a good memory - you must have discovered the fountain of youth :-)

I still play guitar on and off - just to entertain the family. I hope someday we will be able to jam or perform like the good old days. Next time, we will schedule our reunion around your busy schedule - so you have no excuses :-)

Be well, do good work (I know you will), and keep in touch!

Best Regards,
Joe Shen  2009, 08, 06

Dear Tse-Hua, Joe, Jan-Jan and Guitar Club Members:

It is exciting to know those brash, unrestful, smart, and, in my case, "didn't-know-what-he-was-doing" young college kids very often popping up in my day-dreams are still brash, unrestful, smart, and, in my case, "didn't-know-what-I-am-doing"!

Great!  Very happy to be seeing a lot of you in LA, and it's indeed a shame Tse-Hua and some others can not come!  I actually didn't know that many of you in the Guitar Club.  I was one of those "loving to hang out in Pu8 but can't play no guitar" stray dogs!  And you guys received us so well that I ended up spending more time with you guys than my classmates, just like the way Tse-Hua put it!

As an "outsider", I nevertheless feel the camaraderie among the club members and am very much looking forward to our reunion!

As for Tse-Hua's apology, I'm sure we can all forgive him this time around, but unless he has to go to Stockholm to receive the Nobel prize, HE WILL HAVE TO SHOW UP IN OUR NEXT REUNION!  Is that ok with everybody?  Yap, that's more like it!

Simon  2009, 08, 06  (曾垂紀)

Tse Hua,  I now know that you are in Taiwan.  Very happy to hear from you...  It's been so many years - 1986 in Brooklyn and NYC - that we last met, with Richard, Patty, James, and I believe Andy was there too...   I still remember the stories you had of exploring and drinking in Central Park with a couple of old-bones one late summer night.  Simply hilarious!
So you no longer play your guitar and not singing either?  You should!

Hope we get to meet again.

Take care,

Su Feei  2009, 08, 07  (蘇    斐)

My Dear Friends from Guitar Club,

Glad to meet some of you in the reunion, and I enjoyed the singing very much, although I was not prepared to sing in public, but looks like I just couldn't resist it.  Listened to your singing did bring me back to college time, it was a happy memory for me.

For those who had pictures with 仰章 (also from 79心理) and me, the group pictures we took last night, would you please kindly send it to me.

Wish you a safe trip home for those came from outer states and Taiwan.  I believe you all go home fully loaded like us.  Hope to see you next time.

Dear Su-Feei and guitar club friends,

I took several pictures especially for you. They are from my iPhone (not very clear) mostly on 8/7, check-in night except the one with Simon staring at the ice (8/8) before the dinner banquet.

You can see how happy we were to see each other after so many years.  More to come as soon as I download them from my daughter's laptop!

Hi Boys and Girls,

Wow, these photos are wondeful.

You guys look the same to me, and it really brings me back to the good old days in NTU and Guitar Club.
Joe: I almost cannot reconize you.  You are totally different(in terms of weight, haha..).
Hey Jan Jan and Ken: You two did not play classical duet again?
Did anyone took VDO to share on YouTube?

Regards,

Richard  2009, 09, 02 (唐雲順)

Guys,

Looks like you all had a blast at LA.  Great pictures.  A huge bowl of ice cream “before” the banquet…That’s my kind of meal.
Can’t wait to see the videos.

Eric  2009, 09, 02   (羅啟德)

Hey J-J,

You all look WONderful!   Boy!  With ice-cream on top!   Mmmmm-Mm-Mmmmmmmmm!!!

I'll be sharing the photos with Ginger - i recently had a phone conversation with her and mentioned the 8/8 event and its runabout thereof to her ; she was so delighted to hear what i related to her (particularly about Simon - i was not quite sure if Simon was the Simon as her freshman classmate but then it turned out that he IS).

Yes, yes, more photos, PLEASE.

Hi to Kenny, and regards from Bruce & hi from Robin.   -SF

Richard,

I have given up on Ken (莊挺宏)who told me this time he still has our last duet concert program (國父紀念館 ) sitting on top of his guitar inside his case and has not picked up his guitar ever since.  I’m not much better either.  I remember we were on stage together but I don’t remember we were that good to be on 國父紀念館.

Anyway, it is my 2010 new year resolution that I start to play guitar again.  You see how this reunion has motivated me.  I hope 莊挺宏 is reading this e-mail and prepares for me to challenge him when he comes down next time. Meanwhile, I’m encouraging my girl friend to take a classical guitar lesson so that she can be my “casual” duet partner.  She gave herself half a year to catch up with my “advanced” skill.  We’ll see.

鄧嘉猷, if you are reading this e-mail, has your baby arrived yet? Last we talked before the reunion, you said your wife was expecting anytime and couldn’t go to the party.  You are closer to me than 莊挺宏. I think I can count on you more for a duet even though your hands are full now. Can you make the same resolution after your baby is one year old?

You looked marvelous in person and in picture at the reunion.  I enjoy your 中文打字速成班, 數來寶, and singing with the guitar members and as a matter of fact, any appearance on the stage.  I would love you to be our host/MC one day.  Those who didn’t go don’t know what they miss.  Miss you too!

Hi, guys,

You have to look at these lovely pictures from Chia-Yu.  I’m so glad to hear from him and I’ll be the lucky one to hold his baby tomorrow!

The first photo was taken on 8-10 in the delivery room at San Gabriel Hospital. It's a girl, and her name is Sarah. The second photo was just taken this morning: Sarah and her brother Felix.
